Beautiful pics of Tamara Day and Sarah Stiles feet & legs
When I had a baby with me, and other babies in the cradle, I was working 12 hour shifts grinding floors and cutting off wallpaper. Ha! The home was starting to look nice, but there was a lot left. The project would require time, money and my favorite shopping to furnish this house. My sons, my husband and I searched for hidden gems while attending estate sales in order to reduce my expenses. The routine we had for the week consisted of walking from Thursday to Saturday through estate sales and garage sales buying a mixture of old and new pieces and then I would spend weekends painting and sanding the driveway. The furniture I found looked similar to... this is when my desire to repair furniture was born. Even after our house was furnished I couldn't put it down! Markets in town had room for me to sell pieces. I eventually had so many pieces I didn't know what to do and outgrew the space. There were open houses at my house where over 1 000 people came through on a single weekend and could purchase anything they wanted on the ground floor. My business Growing Days began here. My business was not only expanding, but so was my sweet family too. It was a balance between starting a new business as well as being a mom. Growing Days just seemed to work. My daughter Nora became our fourth child. This was a fantastic direction for my company, but I also needed some time off. I made the decision to take some time off from my vintage furniture and slow down to remain at home with the children. This was precisely what I needed. It wasn't until a couple of months when the phones began to call. Calls came in asking me to assist them in the interior design and renovations of their home. The majority of people who contacted me were from those who attended one of my furniture open houses. In the following time I began to take on customers according to my schedule. In no time, I was managing multiple accounts, as well as a house renovations business. If you had predicted that this venture of mine would turn into the basis of a television show that airs on the DIY Network I probably would have laughed. In fact, I laugh slightly when I recall the episode.
