Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American singer-dancer and actress. Her early Broadway performances include Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. As the character Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she was awarded the Tony Award. Annaleigh is a collaborator on projects with award-winning director, actors and producers throughout her career. Ashford is next seen opposite Kumail Nannjiani on Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is currently engaged in the production of Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust that stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film is an Hulu Original and will be streaming on Disney DTC. Ashford is scheduled to return to Broadway in March 2023, with the role of Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production will be held in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The group behind Hamilton director Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail is at the control of the production. Ashford has been seen most recently as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the National Crisis, which saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp at the center of the nation's first impeachment proceedings over a Century. Ashford was a part of two seasons of the hit CBS comedy B Positive. Also, she was a part of the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, which featured legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Not a stranger to Broadway Ashford has won both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her role as Essie. Some other Broadway performances for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, as George Wicked legally Blonde, as well as the role of Lauren In Kinky Boots. For this role, she earned an Tony Award nomination. Her birthplace and childhood was in Denver Ashford now splits the time in Los Angeles and New York.
