Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. Decker's parents relocated to Louisiana in the mid 1990s. Decker won a regional talent show performing a cover from Patsy's I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart at the age of barely nine. Decker had relocated to Georgia before she was 15. She had begun writing songs, was making regular visits in Nashville and visiting record label and music publishers looking for deals. When she was 17, she was 17 when a Big Yellow Dog Records representative heard her and began selling her tracks to labels and artists. After Mercury Records president David Massey was introduced to Decker's work, he passed them along to L.A. Reid head of the associated Island/Def Jam label group and Reid was able to offer her a record deal. Then, in August of 2009 Decker released her first self-titled album under the name Jessie James. Jessie James had a moderately impressive debut record. Wanted, a song that was on the album made it to the Top 40 singles chart. Decker often thought of herself as a folk singer but the album's advertising and production was geared towards an audience that was more popular. Decker's music was under greater scrutinization following the release of two songs. The song that followed, Boys in the Summer featured a typical country sound. Decker had another album titled Sweet American Dreams or Daughter of a Gypsy and it was released, however Mercury decided to put it back on the shelf after both of the singles didn't chart. Decker then was let out of her contract.
